Adrian McDonald Photographs Jamaican Kids To Capture the Beauty and Innocence of Childhood

12:07 PM

Five months ago, McDonald was taking photos of plants and animals outside his home when he heard the neighbors' kids playing on a swing in their backyard. The children seemed to be living in their own world, laughing and playing in total bliss. With their parents' permission, McDonald started photographing them at play. When asked what he hopes others get out of the photos, he told The Huffington Post, "I hope it warms the heart of those who see them and know that beauty still exists in life we just sometimes choose not to see it. Children live a life worth living and that's what we ought to do: live, love, laugh."

Adrian McDonald is a wedding photographer by trade who is used to capturing important moments in a couple's life. Recently, however, he's gotten new-found fame for his beautifully innocent photos of his neighborhood children. While in one photo a young boy looks completely caught in the moment playing with his toy dinosaurs, in another a boy smiles in awe of a bubble that he's just created in mid-air. McDonald came across his new subjects not far from where he lives, the children are actually part of a large family that lives right next door to him in the rural Jamaican parish of Westmoreland.
